X and Facebook will not be used by us anymore
Facebook (Meta) and X (formerly Twitter) have policies and business practices that make many people and organizations hesitant to use them. Here are some key reasons why:
1. Privacy Concerns
Facebook (Meta): Meta has faced multiple scandals regarding data privacy, including the Cambridge Analytica scandal, where user data was harvested without consent. The company tracks user activity extensively, even outside its platform.
X (Twitter): Since Elon Musk took over, X has changed its privacy policies, including requiring more personal data and limiting API access, making it harder for users to control their data.
2. Content Moderation and Misinformation
Facebook: Facebook has been criticized for failing to control misinformation, hate speech, and extremist content. It also uses opaque algorithms that promote engagement over accuracy, leading to the spread of harmful content.
X: X has reduced its moderation efforts, leading to a rise in misinformation, hate speech, and harmful content. It has also reinstated controversial accounts that were previously banned for policy violations.
3. Monetization of User Data
Both platforms collect and sell user data to advertisers. Meta, in particular, has a history of using user data aggressively for targeted advertising.
X has introduced paid verification (Twitter Blue) and prioritizes content from paying users, making it harder for regular users to gain visibility.
4. Unpredictable Policy Changes
Meta frequently changes its policies on content, ads, and privacy without clear warnings, making it difficult for businesses and users to rely on its platform.
X has become unpredictable under Musk, with sudden policy changes, mass layoffs, and shifting content policies that have driven advertisers and users away.
5. Free Speech vs. Harmful Content
Meta has been criticized for either over-censoring or under-moderating content, depending on the issue.
X has taken a more extreme approach, reducing moderation, which has led to more offensive and harmful content spreading unchecked.
6. Platform Instability
X has suffered outages, bugs, and loss of key features due to mass layoffs and poor management decisions.
Facebook’s algorithm changes can destroy business pages’ reach overnight, making it unreliable for brands that depend on organic traffic.
7. Ethical Concerns
Meta and X have both been accused of prioritizing profits over user safety by allowing harmful content to spread in order to increase engagement.
Both companies have faced lawsuits for their role in spreading disinformation, harming mental health (especially among teens), and failing to protect user rights.
For all these reasons we cancel both accounts.
